Machine Vision applied in pharmaceutics
Personalized drug dosage
Robot guidance and traceability
The drug dispensing unit of an hospital has a big responsibility for the proper distribution of drugs. Those are served in single units without unsealing and repacked to reach the proper patient without possibility of errors. To carry out this task, the hospital installed an automated system that cuts the blisters and encodes the single units with a matrix code to ensure traceability. These medicines are stored as a single dose for subsequent repackaging and labeling to reach the patient who had been prescribed.
The cutting mechanism consists of a laser guided by a machine vision system due to the variability of the existing formats of blisters. The subsequent dosing is performed by a scara robot and checked by a vision system.

Control of blister packaging
Presence control
The packaging of pills, tablets or capsules can not be wrong. Therefore, during this process, a machine vision system, equipped with special lighting that avoids glare, checks the correct placement of the drugs and the completeness of the blister.
